APRIL COPPINI | BIO < back to artists

The Artist's Room Fine Art Gallery is thrilled to be able to offer our clients the work of American artist APRIL COPPINI.  April has been exhibiting exclusively (within New Zealand) at The Artist's Room - much of her work sells very quickly - if not before arrival into NZ !.

Born & raised in Rochester, New York - she attended the University of the Arts in Philadelphia in 1990.  She then attended the Alfred University of the Arts from 1991 - 1994 where she received her BFA majoring in print-making & drawing.

Moving to Portland, Oregan in 1995 - April now lives & works from her home studio.  She draws inspiration from her three children, heir 11 chickens, two cats & a dog!.

".. my work in the past few years has been an effort to record something wild & unseen about the form of animals & insects; movement, life, the space between.. the energy they project ... shortly after learning about the demise & the disappearance of the honey bee (termed "colony collapse disorder") I started drawing & recording the bee - capturing them in the same erratic way they fly about.  I have now drawn over 1000 bees and the response to them has been both humbling and over-whelming...".
